Secondary FOBISSEA Games,
13 to 15 Nov 2008

hosted by The International School of Penang (Uplands)

Selamat Datang!

Welcome from the Acting Principal!

The whole community of The International School of Penang (Uplands) and I extend a warm welcome to those parents, teachers and pupils attending the Under 13 FOBISSEA Games from 13 to 15 November 2008. We, the community of Pulau Pinang look forward to hosting participants and supporters from Group B:

•          British International School, Vietnam – BIS
•          ELC International School, Malaysia – ELC
•          International School of Brunei – ISB
•          The International School, Pattaya – ISR
•          Jerudong International School, Brunei – JIS
•          Shrewsbury International School, Thailand – SHB
•          Taipei European School, Taiwan - TES

Please take as many opportunities as you can afford during your brief stay to enjoy the sights and sounds of Penang.  The most important thing for any visitor to do in Penang is to sample as much food as possible – Penang is the food capital of Malaysia!

The FOBISSEA Games have a rich history of fun and friendly competition.  I have no doubts that this Uplands’ hosted event will only add to the tradition.

Uplands School motto is “Respect for self; Respect for others”.  I invite all of our guests to join with Uplands competitors to live up to the motto.  Take pride in the fact that you have been selected to be a participant in these games.  Remember all those who have made extraordinary efforts and sacrifices so that you can participate in these games.  Take the time to appreciate the efforts of those helping to ensure the games run smoothly from your own teams’ coaches, to the referees and umpires; from the organisers and officials at the different venues to the bus drivers who get you there.

I hope that these games provide you with many fond and fun memories to look back on in future years.

Alan Smith
Acting Principal
